Phi Omicron Zeta Volunteers with Back to School Supply Drive

The Phi Omicron Zeta Chapter of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated joined forces with several other organizations to volunteer at the Newton County High School’s “Back to School Supply Drive” in Covington, Georgia on July 15, 2012.  Phi Omicron Zeta donated school supplies to children in grades K-8, and participated in stuffing bags of school supplies and giving them away to students attending elementary and middle schools throughout Newton County.  Other Newton County Schools involved with the giveaway of school supplies were Alcovy High and Eastside High Schools.  Some sorority chapter members represented Phi Omicron Zeta at those two schools as well.  Several hundred students and their parents were very excited and left with big smiles on their faces as they collected their school supply bags.

Phi Omicron Zeta has become increasingly more visible in the Newton and Rockdale Counties since establishing their Stork’s Nest partnership with the Rockdale Medical Center in Conyers, Georgia and the March of Dimes; their annual Phi Omicron Zeta Scholarships; and other community events, including March for Babies and Relay for Life.   The chapter has also begun a partnership with Newton County High School using their Stork’s Nest Program, to help more unwed mothers at the high school; and with voter registration, to get 18-year-old students registered to vote in the 2012 election.
